What are the benefits of wool?

Wool is a natural and renewable fiber that comes from sheep. The sheep that grow the wool need to have it shorn (like a haircut) to ensure they are comfortable year round.

By purchasing these timeless pieces for your home, you ensure this amazing naturally produced fiber isn't going to waste! Some key benefits include:

  • Wool is hypoallergenic and naturally flame resistant, making it a perfect choice for a safe and healthy home.
  • Wool is breathable and offers natural temperature control, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
  • Wool is biodegradable, meaning that when wool fabrics are disposed of, they will naturally decompose in soil, slowly releasing valuable nutrients back into the earth.
  • Wool is easy to take care of, refer to "How do I Take Care of my Lambswool Throw" above.

Have any animals been harmed in making my lambswool throw?

No – in fact it is the opposite! Sheep need to have their fleece shorn (like a haircut) at least once a year to ensure optimal health and comfort.

Further, animal welfare is at the forefront of the ZQ ethical wool certification that Eath wool carries – see our Ethics page for more detail.
